Must campers wear a camp T-shirt every day?
T-shirts do NOT have to be worn every day. We require that all campers wear a Camp Gan Israel T-shirt each trip day. Each camper will recieve one T-shirt on their first day. Camp shirts distinguish our campers and staff from other visitors when on field trips. Extra camp shirts are available before camp for $12.00. Campers not wearing thier t-shirts on required days will be given a new one at the parents expense of $12.00.

How does my camper find a lost item?
Please mark all belongings with your camper's name and group. This is very important since shirts, backpacks, etc. are identical and individual items are difficult to identify without a label. Lost & found items are available each day in the office. Please contact us in writing or by phone regarding specific items. No toys are allowed to be brought into camp. CGI will hold all items not for camp use, which will be given back before pick up.

How does the transportation system work?
Camp Gan Israel uses school buses only to transport the campers to and from trips.

How do I arrange to pick up my camper during the camp day?
If you have to pick up your camper during the day, please call 216 402 8853. Once we are aware of your arrival time, we can arrange to have your camper ready for you. Please note that no camper will be released to ANYONE without written permission.

What if my child does not want to participate in a particular activity?
No camper will be forced to participate in any activity. However, we do urge campers to try all activities and take advantage of the complete program offered at Camp Gan Israel.

Can my camper bring a precious item to camp?
We do not permit your camper to bring phones, jewelry, radios, expensive toys, etc. to camp. Electronic games are also not allowed. Camp Gan Israel supplies everything campers may need.

What does my camper need to bring each day?
Campers need to bring a lunch*, water bottle, and hat or cap. On swim days, campers need a bathing suit and towel regardless of the weather. Please apply sunscreen at home (and send along as well.) *Unless signed up to the Camp Lunch program.

How can I speak with my child's counselor?
A call to the camp office will answer most questions. Since counselors are constantly supervising groups and activities, messages will be taken at the camp office. Please leave your name and evening phone number and the counselor will return your call as soon as possible.

How can I speak with a Camp Director?
Rivky's cell phone number is 216 402 8853. Texting works great too.

Are we obligated to give a tip or gift to our child's counselor?
Tips or gifts are appreciated. If you wish to do so, here is a general guideline: $10-$20 for a junior counselor and $30-$60 for a counselor. Any gift or even a note of thanks is always appreciated.

How can I become more involved with Camp Gan Israel?
C.G.I. has openings for parents to be more involved. Be a Surprise Guest and Share a hobby or skill. Chaperone a trip or offer to pick up Pizza Lunch! Parents are invited to help with CGI's Annual Concert and other events. Just ask!

What does CGI do in terms of teaching a Jewish theme?
Gan Israel campers are imbued with a deep sense of pride in their Jewish heritage. One session a day is devoted to a Jewish Theme. Various programs include: Story telling, challah baking, Hebrew Songs, special Jewish art projects , Jewish mock weddings, Maccabee Games & Special Guests. The weekly Torah Portion is taught through Games & Contests as well.

What is really covered in the CGI tuition?
An average week of camp really costs CGI $318 per camper. CGI keeps its costs as affordable as possible by kind and loving people like you who understand the importance of Jewish Summer Camp.
